UIC opened play at the River Forest Collegiate Invitational Friday with a full day of doubles and singles play.
Pelle Strandberg and
Kasper Parlklo, playing together for the first time, earned a doubles win.
Niko Wasilewicz and
William Wale advanced in the #2 draw. Parlko, Strandberg,
Anthony Nguyen, and
Alvaro de la Fuente all advanced in singles competition.
Play will continue Saturday. Doubles champions will be crowned, and another round of singles play will determine the placement matchups for Sunday.

- William Wale debuted in the #1 draw. He fell to Diego Le Gal Perez of Illinois State, 6-0, 6-1.
- Kasper Parlklo won in the #2 draw over Green Bay's George Botha, 6-4, 4-6, 10-4.
- Sophomore transfer Luiz Dos Santos made his Flames debut with a 6-4, 1-6, 10-6 loss to Laurentiu Mandocescu from Youngstown State.
- Niko Wasilewicz was a 7-6 (8-4), 6-4 victim of Valpo's Daniel Langston at #4.
- Pelle Strandberg advanced in the winner's bracket with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Northern Illinois' Mikko Malinen in the #5 bracket.
- Anthony Nguyen moved on in the #6 draw when ISU's Cameron Peterson retired at 4-6, 1-2.
- Alvaro de la Fuente was a 6-4, 7-5 winner over Kushal Marri from St. Louis in a round-robin opener at #7.
