Though UIC battled in every set, Butler had too much firepower and came away with a 4-1 win in the season opener at Kalamazoo, Mich. Saturday afternoon.
"We took the lead in doubles on courts 2 and 3,"
Hans Neufeld observed. "We lost a tough battle in doubles. The team competed well in singles and showed a lot of resolve in a hard-fought match."
Pelle Strandberg captured UIC's lone point in #5 singles. The Flames will remain in Kalamazoo to face Western Michigan Sunday. "The competition only gets tougher, but so do we," Neufeld concluded.
