UIC roared back from a 3-0 deficit to earn its first victory of the season, 4-3 over Northern Illinois Friday afternoon.
"This was a great team win,"
Hans Neufeld said. "Just an awesome team effort. Johan clinched the match with a great serve and volley. Kasper saved a match point that would have given NIU the win. Pelle and Anthony were very workmanlike in their effort."
After losing their previous match after being up 3-2, the Flames turned the tables on a Husky squad that dominated doubles play and came away with two quick singles wins. Like the Eastern Illinois match Sunday, Friday's decisive match came down to a third set.
Johan Hedstrom came back from a set down to close out the win.
