The UIC men's tennis program (1-11) will travel to nearby Evanston to face off against the Northwestern Wildcats (10-3) for the second time this season. The Flames most recently fell 5-0 in a hard-fought match to the Illinois Illini. The Wildcats fell to Vanderbilt, 6-1 in their last match.
UIC has shown improvement in their past matches despite the overall record. Freshman
Ammar Wazir has played well in his first season of collegiate tennis.
Pelle Strandberg has continued to battle against the opposing team's best player and has put up impressive efforts.
Francesco Tacconi has been a great addition to the Flames as well, playing tough against the competition when healthy.
Northwestern ranks first in the Big Ten with a 10-3 record on the season. The Wildcats have fallen to Memphis, North Carolina, and the aforementioned Vanderbilt. The Wildcats defeated the Flames in their first match, 4-0, but UIC is poised to return to Evanston with more experience and look for competitive matches against Northwestern.
The Flames are scheduled to take on Northwestern on Saturday, Mar. 12, at 5:30 p.m.
