UIC will aim for its first Horizon League win of the season, and the beginning of another winning streak against IUPUI, when the Flames take on the Jaguars Saturday afternoon.
The Flames enter play with an 0-1 conference record, having dropped a tough 4-3 match to Northern Kentucky last weekend. IUPUI topped the Norse in their opener, and have a 5-12 overall record. The Jaguars were victorious in the teams' last meeting. That was their first win over UIC as Horizon League members, and snapped an eight-match winning streak for UIC in the series.
UIC bounced back from the NKU loss with a win over Elmhurst on Monday.Â
Gustavo Schwebel pushed his singles winning streak to two, and also was part of the victorious #1 doubles team. The Flames swept Elmhurst, 7-0, a day after Schwebel,
Pelle Strandberg, and
Ammar Wazir earned singles wins over NKU.
IUPUI has been tough on their home courts, where they are 3-1 on the season. Alex Jochim has been a fixture at #1 singles, and his five wins there are tied for the most by any Jaguar in any position. Kamil Kozerski's eight singles wins, spread over three flights, lead the team. Jochim and Emil Jankowski have been a force at #1 doubles, where they have seven wins.
The match will begin at 12:30 Central in Indianapolis.
