UIC men's tennis (1-10) travels to Champaign-Urbana, Ill., to take on the Fighting Illini (3-6). The Flames most recently fell in seven sets to neighboring Chicago State, 4-3. Illinois is on a two-match win streak, grabbing victories over Northern Kentucky and No. 22 North Carolina.
UIC put up a strong effort against the Cougars, as their young talent shined through with
Ammar Wazir and
Kevin Kruzel, who picked up two of the three singles wins for the Flames on Wednesday.
Francesco Tacconi rounded out the Flames with their third singles victory of the day. UIC may not have won the match but showed a vast improvement in effort and resiliency against Chicago State.
The Fighting Illini have faced some of the top competition early on into the season, facing four ranked teams, with a match against No. 4 Baylor happening the evening of Friday, Mar. 4. The Illini will be a strong opponent for the Flames to face heading into the conference season.
The match is scheduled to start at noon, Saturday, Mar. 5, in Champaign-Urbana, Ill.
