BEAUMONT, Tex. – UIC's men's tennis (7-11, 2-1 Southland) is gearing up to play its last two conference matches of the season this weekend in Texas. Their first stop will be in Beaumont, Texas to play Lamar (9-8, 1-0 Southland). Then they will go south, thorough Houston to matchup against Incarnate Word (10-3, 0-0 Southland) in San Antonio.
NEW KIDS ON THE COURT
The Flames are off to a good start their first year in the Southland Conference. They currently rank third in the conference, with two more matches to go. UIC's first conference win was historic. They edged out league juggernaut Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 4-3. The second win was recently against Nicholls State.
SCOUTING LAMAR
The Flames and Cardinals have no history of playing each other, however, the teams will match up well. Lamar's first conference win was against Nicholls State. They outscored the Colonel 4-3, the same score UIC beat them with.
SCOUTING INCARNATE WORD
UIW goes into the match with a solid record, but this will be the team's first conference matchup. The Flames and Cardinals have no previous history against one another.
Saturday's match against Lamar is scheduled for 10 a.m. CDT at the Beaumont Municipal Tennis Center. The next day, Sunday, first serve against Incarnate Word is set for 1 p.m. CDT from the Mabry Tennis Center.
