CHICAGO (Feb. 10, 2024) – The UIC men's tennis team looks to keep its perfect home record intact as the Flames host IUPUI Sunday at the XS Tennis Village.
The non-conference competition will start at 10 a.m. Sunday's match is UIC's third home match in its last four contests and the final home competition of February.
SCOUTING IUPUI
- The Jaguars are 3-4 on the season and are coming off a 7-0 loss against Dayton (Feb. 4). All three IUPUI victories have been a 5-2 score.
- UIC has won ten of its last 15 matches against IUPUI, dating back to 2000, but the Jaguars have won three of the last four matches against the Flames.
- Last season, UIC fell 4-1 to IUPUI in a match held in Indianapolis (March 3).
LAST MATCH
- In its toughest challenge of the season so far, the Flames fell 4-1 to a tough Northwestern program on the road at the Combe Tennis Center.
- For the first time since their season opener at Eastern Kentucky, the Flames dropped the doubles point in the loss to the Wildcats.
- In singles competition, Robinson Le Meur (Evreux, France/Sciences Po Bordeaux) came away with the victory at the No. 3 position. After winning in the first set 6-1, and leading 3-1 in the second set, Le Meur's opponent medically withdrew/forfeited to give the sophomore the victory.
- Two of UIC's singles matches went unfinished, due to Northwestern winning the overall team match. Gustavo Schwebel (Salvador, Brazil/Colegio Antonio Vieira) and Edoardo Bottino (Genoa, Italy/Queens University) both either won a set or had a lead in their respective set when the match concluded.
WEEKLY HONOR FOR LE MEUR

- Le Meur went 2-0 in singles competition at the No. 3 spot for the Flames this past week, defeating opponents from Chicago State (6-3, 6-1) and Northwestern (6-1, 3-1). The sophomore is currently on a three-match win streak and is tied for the team lead with three singles wins on the season. Le Meur is undefeated at the No. 3 singles spot in 2024.
- Le Meur is the first UIC men's tennis student-athlete to receive a weekly honor from the MAC. 2024 marks UIC's first season as an affiliate member of the conference.
