AS A SENIOR (2019-20): Horizon League All-Academic Team...tied the school record in the 200 back at the Horizon League Championships...was also part of the school record-setting 200 IM team...claimed six wins in the 100 back, and three more in the 200 back during the regular season...finished lower than second just twice all year across both backstroke events...won both backstroke races against Milwaukee and Cleveland State/IUPUI...was second in the 100 back and fourth in the 200 IM, as well as sixth in the 200 back, at the House of Champions...finished fourth in the 100 back, sixth in the 200 back, and fifth in the 200 IM at the Horizon League Championships...qualified for the US Open in the 100 back, 200 back, and 200 IM...in addition to leading off the medley relay, was the leadoff swimmer in the 200 free relay all season.
AS A JUNIOR (2018-19): Horizon League All-Academic Team...set new school records in the 100 back and 200 IM at the Horizon League Championships...never finished lower than third in the 200 IM all season, including at the prestigious TYR Invitational...likewise was in the top three every time he swam the 200 breast...did not finish lower than second in a dual meet in the 100 breast...accumulated seven wins in his five primary events, not including his three first place times in preliminary action at the Horizon League Championships...finished second in the 100 back and 200 IM, and fourth in the 200 back, in the conference finals...manned the breaststroke leg on the Flames' A-medley relay teams...was part of two winning teams in both the 200 and 400 medley relays, and two more second place showings in the 200...named UIC's Most Valuable Swimmer.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017-18): Named to Horizon League All-Academic Team...started the season with a second place finish in the 100 back (:51.51) and a third place showing in the 200 back (1:53.67), while leading the 200 medley relay team to a second place finish against Green Bay and Valparaiso...got his first individual event win of the season in the 200 IM (1:56.23) against Northwestern and Chicago...repeated as the 200 IM winner against Milwaukee...part of winning 400 medley relay team in that meet as well, as he would be the backstroke swimmer on UIC's A-team all season...made it three wins in a row in the 200 IM, and added a victory in the 100 back (:50.74) against Oakland...set season highs in the 200 back and 200 IM at the TYR Invitational...won the 200 IM (1:54.86) and the 100 back (:51.49) on day 1 at Cleveland State...finished second in both backstroke races on day 2...qualified for the championship final in three events at the Horizon League Championships, taking sixth in the 200 back (1:48.98), seventh in the 100 back (:49.55), and eighth in the 200 IM (1:50.21).
AS A FRESHMAN (2016-17): Placed third in the 200 IM (1:56.03), fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:35.25) and fifth in the 100 breast (59.66) in the triple dual with Northwestern, Olivet-Nazarene and the University of Chicago (Oct. 22)…was victorious in both the 200 medley relay (1:34.51) and the 200 breast (2:08.90), took second place in the 100 breast (59.33) and third in the 200 IM (1:58.14) against Boston College (Oct. 28)…earned first place in the 100 back (51.01), second place in the 200 IM (1:54.90), third in the 400 medley relay (3:26.02), fourth in the 200 medley relay (1:35.01), fifth in the 200 breast (2:10.47) and sixth in the 100 breast (59.75) versus Oakland, Green Bay and Wright State (Nov. 4-5)…notched a couple of first place finishes in both the 100 breast (59.61) and the 200 breast (2:10.15), finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:35.53) and third in the 200 IM (1:57.42) at Milwaukee (Nov. 12)…took seventh place in the 400 medley relay (3:23.36), eleventh in the 200 IM (1:52.43) and the 100 back (50.47), twelfth in the 200 back (1:51.37) and finished in fourteenth in the 100 breast (58.84) at Northwestern’s annual TYR Invitational (Nov. 18-20)…captured first place in the 200 breast (2:09.34) and earned a trio of second place finishes in the 400 medley relay (3:26.96), the 100 breast (59.13) as well as in the 200 IM (1:54.83) against Cleveland State (Jan. 14)…claimed first place in the 200 IM (1:52.22), the 400 medley relay (3:26.28), the 200 medley relay (1:33.45) and the 200 back (1:50.98), took fourth in the 200 free relay (1:26.74) and sixth in the 400 free relay (3:13.74) at the Flames Invitational (Jan. 20-21)…placed second in the 400 medley relay (3:20.75), third in the 200 medley relay (1:29.78), fifth in the 100 back (49.67) and notched a couple of sixth place finishes in both the 200 IM (1:50.52) and the 2090 back (1L49.34) at the Horizon League Championships (Feb. 22-25).
PREP/PERSONAL: Was a four time All-Conference selection and four time All-Academic selection...made All-State as a junior and academic All-American as a senior...team took 10th in the state his junior year...son of Dave and Katie Sivak...sister Erin and brother Brian both swam at UIC...majoring in secondary education.
