AS A SOPHOMORE (2018-19): Came in third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly against Michigan State to open the season...was seventh in the 100 fly against Northwestern and Chicago...took third in the 200 back against Olivet Nazarene...had a pair of fourth place finishes, in the 100 back and 100 fly, against Oakland...swam the 100 and 200 back in top-five times against Milwaukee...finished third in the 100 back and fourth in the 100 fly against Green Bay...made the consolation finals in the 100 and 200 back at the Horizon League Championships...finished 13th and 15th respectively.
AS A FRESHMAN (2017-18): Placed fifth in the 100 fly (:52.97) and fourth in the 200 fly (1:59.04) in the season opener against Green Bay and Valparaiso...also led off the fourth place 200 medley relay team...finished in the top seven in both fly races against Northwestern and Chicago, improving his times in both...swam the backstroke leg of the B-200 medley relay team again...was fourth in the 100 fly and seventh in the 200 fly against Milwaukee...helped the 400 medley relay team to a third place finish, and joined the 400 free relay team for the first time, finishing third...competed in the 200 back for the first time against Oakland, and placed fourth (1:56.42)...improved his time in the 200 fly, and moved to the second position in the 400 free relay...in addition to fly and backstroke races, swam the 50 free (:22.35) and 50 fly (:23.55) at the TYR Invitational...moved to the fly leg of the medley relays...led off the 200 free relay at Cleveland State, and moved back to the backstroke leg of the medley relay...also swam the 100 fly (fourth, :52.53), 200 fly (ninth, 2:01.33), and 100 back (eighth, :53.16) at the two-day meet...qualified for the consolation final of the 100 back (:51.23) at the Horizon League Championships, where he also swam the 50 free, 200 back, and 100 fly.
PREP/PERSONAL: Member of three conference championship teams and three state qualifiers at Mountain Vista High School...earned conference Swimmer of the Year honors...son of Jill and David Ruppel...major is currently undecided.
