AS A SENIOR (2019-20): Qualified for the US Open in the 100 back and 200 back...qualified for finals in the elite international event in the 200...placed fifth in the 200 free and sixth in the 500 at the season opener at Northwestern...was top-four in both races against Michigan State...made his season backstroke debut at Oakland, finishing third in the 100 and second in the 200...took third in the 200 free and second in the 200 back against Milwaukee...finished in the top seven in both backstroke races at the House of Champions, including a fifth place finish in the 200...had a pair of second place finishes, in the 200 free and 200 back, and was third in the 200 IM, against Green Bay...won the 200 free and came in second in the 200 back against UChicago and Wabash...made the consolation finals in both backstroke races at the Horizon League Championships.
AS A JUNIOR (2018-19): Started the season with the first of his four wins in the 200 back against Michigan State...would also win the event against Oakland, Milwaukee, and Green Bay...was also fifth in the 200 free against the Spartans...took third in the 200 free against Northwestern and Chicago...added a second place finish in the 200 free to his 200 back win against Oakland...won the 200 free and 200 back against Milwaukee...placed seventh in the 200 back and 12th in the 100 back in the finals at the TYR Invitational...had three second place swims (200 free twice and 100 back) and a third place finish in the 500 free in the two-day meet with Cleveland State and IUPUI...won the 200 free and 200 back against Green Bay...a triple-finalist at the Horizon League Championships, ended in fifth in the 200 free and the 200 back, and sixth in the 100 back.
AS A SOPHOMORE (2017-18): Took first in the 200 back (1:52.20) and third in the 100 back (:51.68) against Green Bay and Valparaiso...nabbed second in the 200 back, third in the 200 IM (1:57.04) and fifth in the 100 back against Northwestern and Chicago...was a double winner in the 100 back (:51.25) and 200 back (1:50.95) against Milwaukee...placed in the top five in both backstroke races against Oakland...swam five individual events, including the 500 free, and two relays at the TYR Invitational...had one first place finish, two seconds, and a third in the two-day Cleveland State/IUPUI meet...was fourth at the Horizon League Championships in the 200 free (1:39.00) and 100 back (:49.09).
AS A FRESHMAN (2016-17): Placed fourth in the 200 back (1:53.77), eighth in the 1000 free (10:14.00) and tenth in the 400 free relay (3:20.08) in the triple dual with Olivet-Nazarene, Northwestern and the University of Chicago (Oct. 22)…earned a couple of first place finishes both in the 200 medley relay (1:34.51) and the 200 back (1:51.38), took second in the 100 back (51.93) and third in the 200 free relay (1:27.29) against Boston College (Oct. 28)…was victorious in the 200 back (1:50.58), earned third place in the 400 medley relay (3:26.02), fourth place in both the 200 medley relay (1:35.01) and the 100 back (51.66) and finished in seventh place in the 400 free relay (3:12.35) versus Oakland, Wright State and Green Bay (Nov. 4-5)…captured a couple of first place finishes in both the 100 back (52.70) and the 200 back (1:53.10), took second place in the 200 medley relay (1:35.53) and finished third in the 400 free relay (3:12.96) at Milwaukee (Nov. 12)…finished seventh in the 400 medley relay (3:23.36) and the 800 free relay (6:51.80), tenth in the 200 medley relay (1:33.34), eleventh in the 200 free (1:41.42) and finished in fifteenth in the 100 back (51.40) at Northwestern’s annual TYR Invitational (Nov. 18-20)…won the 200 back (1:49.61) and notched a couple of second place finishes in the 400 medley relay (3:26.96) and the 100 back (51.68) before finishing in the third place in the 200 IM (1:56.82) against Cleveland State (Jan. 14)…claimed first place in the 400 medley relay (3:26.28), second place in the 200 back (1:51.20), third place in the 500 free (4:42.56), fourth place in the 200 free (1:43.65), fifth in the 800 free relay (7:07.57), sixth place in the 400 free relay (3:13.74) and finished seventh in the 200 medley relay (1:38.79) versus Olivet-Nazarene and Milwaukee at the Flames Invitational (Jan. 20-21)…placed third in the 800 free relay (6:39.32), fifth in the 400 medley relay (3:20.75), eighth in the 100 back (50.47) and captured tenth in the 500 free (4:33.05) at the Horizon League Championships (Feb. 22-25).
PREP/PERSONAL: Earned the Most Valuable Swimmer award...was a three time USA Swimming scholastic All-American...set school records in the 200 free...plays four instruments and earned the Louis Armstrong Jazz Award...son of Janice and George Tegeler...majoring in mechanical engineering.
