Why UIC: “First and foremost, I see the city as my home. There are certain aspects of city life that evolved in Chicago, Illinois that have had an impact on how humans construct our habitats globally. I saw no better place to be than UIC. With an opportunity to compete at the Division 1 level, the deal was sweetened. In my years at UIC, I have had the ability to do fieldwork in what feels like my back yard. From researching Property Ownership in Pilsen to cultivating native species of plants to increase biodiversity and ecological utility at the university greenhouse. I am blessed to be able to observe both my home and my impact on it over time.”
