AS A SOPHOMORE (2021-22): Swam the 100 and 200 free in the season opener against Northwestern...made his season debut in the 500 free against Milwaukee...competed in the 100 and 200 free against Oakland...made the B-final in the 100 and 200 free at the House of Champions invitational...was third in the 50 and 200 free, and fourth in the 100 free, against Valparaiso...closed his season with a fourth place swim in the 50 free against Notre Dame.

AS A FRESHMAN (2020-21): Debuted against Cleveland State, taking fifth in the 500 free and sixth in the 200 free...had top-five finishes in the 100, 200, and 500 free against Oakland...took third in both the 50 and 100 free against Milwaukee...swam the 50, 100, and 200 at the Horizon League Championships, setting season-bests in the latter two events...contributor to UIC's 200 and 400 free relay teams.

PREP/PERSONAL: Set the school record in the 200 free...named a Scholastic All-American...part of two city championship teams and one sectional champion...biggest thrill was winning the 100 free at sectionals...has two brothers who both swam collegiately...enjoys music research and reading...son of Ricardo and Ronna Fernandez...majoring in Business.
