Women's Tennis wins Academic Team of the Year for the seventh time in 12 years

Luis Silva joined the UIC Athletics staff in November of 2012. He currently serves as Assistant Director, Academic Services in the Port Academic Center.

In this role, Silva is the primary academic liaison for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's cross country/track and men's and women's tennis. He is responsible for monitoring academic progress towards graduation, assisting with the coordination of tutoring services for the Port Center, Progress Report monitoring and follow-up along with a variety of other academically-related duties.

Prior to joining Athletics, Silva served as the Assistant Director of the Academic Resource Center in the College of Engineering here at UIC from 2009-12. In this role, he was primarily responsible for degree certification for all undergraduate student s as well as academic advising for continuing students, new student orientation and degree audit articulation.

From 1996 to 2009, Silva worked in UIC's Office of Records and Registration in a variety of student service administrative roles.

Silva earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from UIC in 1996.
