AS A SENIOR (2016-17): Competed consistently on pommel horse, rings and parallel bars throughout his senior campaign, but also saw action on floor, vault and high bar…competed in the all-around against Air Force (March 12) and earned a total of 75.950 where he also grabbed a 12.600 on floor and a 13.200 on vault…notched a season and career high of 13.500 on pommel horse, first against Nebraska (Feb. 26) and again at the Midwest Open (March 4) where he took first place…landed a 13.600 on rings versus William & Mary at the Peach Tree Invitational (Feb. 11)…was victorious and beat his personal record on parallel bars at the Midwest Open after scoring a 14.100…collected another personal best on high bar at Ohio State against the Buckeyes after sticking a 13.700 (Jan. 20)…scored a 12.700 on pommels, a 13.050 on rings and a 13.750 on parallel bars at the ECAC Championships (April 8)…qualified for the NCAA Championship qualifier on parallel bars with a season average score of 13.650…finished in twenty0sixth place at the NCAA Championship prelims with a score of 13.150 (April 21).

AS A JUNIOR (2015-16): Consistently represented the Flames on the pommel horse, still rings and parallel bars this season…He competed on high bar for four meets during his junior season…Root recorded a career best score of 13.400 on pommel horse against Arizona State (March 13) at the UIC Pavilion…He also collected a career high score on high bar of 13.550 at the ECAC Championships on April 2.

AS A SOPHOMORE (2014-15): Root competed for the Flames in three meets this season...he recorded a career best score of 13.700 on floor exercise at the Windy City Invitational at the UIC Pavilion...he also collected a career high score on rings (13.700) at the ECAC Championships on March 27.

AS A FRESHMAN (2013-14): Primarily spent his time in floor exercise and on the pommel horse, but also competed in All-Around competition... Tallied a season-best score of 13.800 in floor exercise and 13.850 on parallel bars on Feb. 23 against Iowa... Tallied a 13.350 on pommel horse and 13.800 on vault at Feb. 15 at Temple...Notched a season-best score of 13.350 on rings Feb. 8 at SUNY-Brockport... Achieved a 13.400 at Michigan March 22... Scored a season-best score of 79.650 in All-Around... Was named ECAC Rookie of the Week on Feb. 19 for his performance against Temple on Feb. 15

PREP AND PERSONAL: Three time State Champion... two time Regional Champion... 38th in Nation... born July 28, 1993 in Cartersville Ga. ...son of Sarah Agan and Jack Root... currently enrolled as a Criminology, Law & Justice major.
