Michael Wilner will assist head coach Charley Nelson, bringing a wealth of experience from his own gymnastics career. Wilner, a native of Park Ridge, Ill. attended the University of Illinois, where he was a member of the NCAA Championship squad in 2012 during his freshman season. Also during his time with the Illini, Wilner was a three-time College Gymnastics Associaton (CGA) All-American Scholar Athlete, and was selected Academic All-Big Ten in 2013 and 2014. Wilner obtained his degree in computer engineering in 2015 from the University of Illinois.
Outside of his collegiate accomplishments, Wilner was crowned the 2017 USA Champion on the still rings, and was also the Junior Olympic National Champion in the same event in 2011 prior to his days in Champaign. At the club level, Wilner competed at Gymnastics Spot under the direction of Patrick Roche.
