Debru enters his first year on the UIC men's tennis staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2026.
On the court, Debru played his freshman season at Georgia before transferring to Illinois to complete his final three years.
In his sophomore season, Debru was named to the Academic All-Big Ten team, competed in 31 matches, and went 7-3 in No. 2 doubles.Â
Junior year, he was named a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, an Academic All-Big Ten, an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and a Big Ten Sportsmanship Award Honoree, and went 10-10 in singles and 21-9 in doubles.Â
In his final season, Debru was named to the CSC Academic All-District, Academic All-Big Ten, Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and ITA Scholar-Athlete, and recorded a 17-11 singles record with a 14-8 mark in dual action while picking up 14 doubles victories.Â
