Dan Wallace was named Director of Athletic Communications in September 2019. In his role, Wallace oversees the media relations efforts for the athletic department and UIC’s 18 Division I programs. Wallace specifically serves as the media contact for men’s basketball, baseball, women’s golf and both the men’s and women’s cross country/track and field programs.
 
Wallace joined the Flames family following a three-year stint at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina as an Assistant Director of Athletic Communications. While with the Demon Deacons, Wallace worked with the football, women’s basketball and men’s tennis programs. During his tenure, the football team won three consecutive bowl games and the men’s tennis team captured three consecutive ACC regular season titles, back-to-back ACC tournament titles as well as the program’s first-ever NCAA team and individual championships in 2018.
 
During his time in Winston-Salem, Wallace served as the media coordinator for the 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Tennis Championships, which were held at Wake Forest. In the role, Wallace oversaw all media and publicity efforts of the tournament while maintaining his role as the men’s tennis contact during the team’s historic run to a first-ever NCAA championship.
 
Prior to Wake Forest, Wallace spent two years at Western Illinois University as a Graduate Assistant for Athletic Communications. Wallace received his Master of Science degree in sport management while with the Leathernecks.
 
Wallace began his career in athletic communications at the University of Iowa. Following his graduation in 2013, Wallace spent a year as a full-time intern in the athletic communications office. During his time as an undergrad, Wallace first worked as a student broadcaster for BTN’s Student U Productions before transitioning to a student worker role with the athletic communications office as a senior. He received Bachelor of Arts degrees in communication studies and sports studies.
 
A native of the Chicagoland area, Wallace grew up in Clarendon Hills, Illinois, and currently resides in Chicago.
