Tracey McGarry, who spent the previous six years coaching cross country and track & field at North Park University, has been named a women[apos]s assistant track & field and cross country coach at UIC. While at North Park, McGarry[apos]s runners established school records in the women[apos]s 6,000 meter run and men[apos]s 8,000 meter run in cross country as well as the women[apos]s outdoor track & field 5,000 and 10,000 meter runs. McGarry guided three runners to All-CCIW (College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin) honors in cross country and track & field, including the 5,000 and 10,000 meter champion in 2006. Two runners qualified for the NCAA Division III Cross Country and Track & Field Championships under McGarry[apos]s tutelage. As a team, McGarry[apos]s squads were recognized with All-Academic team honors on multiple occasions. McGarry was a member of the Benedictine University Cross Country and Track & Field team from 1999-2002 where she established school records in cross country and track & field as well as earned NIIC (currently NAC-Northern Athletics Conference) Athlete of Year honors on two occasions. McGarry received All-Regional and NCAA Division III All-American honors during the 2002 cross country season. After an injury forced her to miss her senior track & field season, McGarry began graduate work at Lewis University where she competed for the Flyers, becoming the GLVC (Great Lakes Valley Conference) Champion at 10,000 meters. McGarry still competes in local road races and has finished among the Top 100 Women in the Chicago Marathon in 2009 and 2010. McGarry received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education with a minor in History from Benedictine in 2002 and her Master of Arts in Education degree from Lewis in 2005.
