Susan Bromberg was elevated to Associate Head Coach in August 2019. She became the head diving coach for the UIC swimming and diving program in 2008-09. She holds over 20 years of coaching experience in the Chicagoland area.

Bromberg currently serves on the Board of Directors for the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association. She is also on the NCAA Swimming and Diving Oversight Committee, the NCAA Swiming and Diving Championships sub-committee, the NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Committee and the USA Diving Nominations Committee. She previously served as the Chair of the Coaches Advisory Committee for USA Diving from 2015-21.

An eight-time Horizon League Diving Coach of the Year, Bromberg has seen her divers accumulate 13 conference championships, and has had multiple divers qualify for the NCAA Zone competition in every season since 2011-12.

Continued success arrived for Bromberg during the 2024-25 season, winning Men's Missouri Valley Conference Diving Coach of the Year at the conference meet. That was Bromberg's 18th Diving Coach of the Year recognition in her career and 13th in her time at UIC.

Bromberg once again provided guidance to Harrison Nolan, who won both diving events at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship meet, breaking conference records in the three-meter (381.95 points) and one-meter (343.70 points) diving competitions. Senior Cole Tremewan and sophomore Christian Curtis also collected first place finishes at the men's conference meet.  Alongside Nolan and Tremewan, Bromberg made program history, coaching both student-athletes to qualify for the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in the platform competition.

On the women's side, Bromberg led juniors Kerry-Leigh Morrison and Kathryn Kleczka to multiple top-eight finishes to earn themselves all-conference recognitions for their efforts on the one-meter and three-meter diving boards to finish out the 2024-25 season.

Bromberg continued her success heading into the 2023-24 season, earning Diving Coach of the Year in the Missouri Valley Conference for the women's side, and in the Mid-Atlantic Conference for the men's. Ciara McCliment won her second consecutive three-meter diving title with a score of 297.20 points. On the men's side, Nolan won both the one-meter (379.75 points) in a school record-breaking performance and the three-meter diving event (362.15 points). Nolan was joined by Cole Tremewan and Bruno Carrillo to sweep the top-three finishes in both events.

Bromberg led a school record-breaking five divers into the 2024 NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Louisville, Ky. Nolan and Tremewan made history as the first two UIC divers to reach the finals of both springboard diving events. Nolan placed 10th in the finals of the one-meter event (639.90 points) and 16th on the three-meter board (675.15 points). His 10th-place finish is the best ever recorded by a UIC diver at the NCAA Zone Championships. Tremewan improved his marks from a season ago at Zones, adding 44 points to his total on the three-meter board (676.50 points|15th place) and 20 points on the one-meter board (606.50 points|16th place).

Even in the new conferences for the 2022-23 season, she has excelled. Bromberg was crowned the Diving Coach of the Year by the Missouri Valley Conference on the women's side, as well as the MAC Diving Coach of the Year for the men. Under Bromberg's leadership, Kerry-Leigh Morrison was MVC Freshmen Diver of the Year, Cole Tremewan was MAC Diver of the Year, and four Flames qualified for the NCAA Zone Championships. Additionally, Ciara McCliment was the MVC 3-meter Champion, Cole Tremewan was the MAC Champion in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events, and Cole Tremewan was also a finalist on both boards at the NCAA Zone Championships.

Bromberg captured the men's and women's Coach of the Year awards in 2021-22, after her divers claimed three of the four individual conference championships.  Felix LaFortune (3-meter champion; 1-meter runner-up) was named Male Diver of the Meet, and Cydney Liebenberg (1-meter and 3-meter champion) was crowned Female Diver of the Meet.  Both qualified for NCAA Zones, as part of a four-diver contingent under Bromberg's guidance.  Liebenberg came less than six points from qualifying for nationals on the 1-meter board.

In 2020-21, Felix LaFortune defended his 3-meter Horizon League championship, and Ryan Murphy completed the Flames' sweep as the runner-up.  LaFortune was named Diver of the Meet for the second straight year, after claiming both the 1-meter and 3-meter titles in 2019-20.

Records fell by the wayside in the 2019-20 season. Felix LaFortune and Cydney Liebenberg set the men's and women's 1-meter records. Each won the Horizon League championship in 3-meter diving, with LaFortune adding the 1-meter title. He became UIC's first men's champion on either board since 2003, and the first Flame to sweep both events. Bromberg was named the conference's Coach of the Year for both men's and women's competition. LaFortune became the first UIC diver to qualify for finals at the NCAA Zone competition, doing so on the 3-meter board. He was one of five Flames to qualify for the Zone meet.

Bromberg had three divers compete in the NCAA Zone C Championships for two straight seasons. Andrew Lewarchick and Cydney Liebenberg qualified twice each, with Sean Scarry and Felix LaFortune each making the cut once. Liebenberg was the 1-meter and 3-meter Horizon League champion in both 2018 and 2019, and was named Diver of the Meet both years.

At the 2019 Horizon League Championships, Liebenberg successfully defended her two championships, and was joined in the 1-meter final by Natalie Williams. On the men's side, LaFortune finished third in both events. Lewarchick took fifth on the 3-meter board. In 2018, Liebenberg swept the conference titles as a freshman. Kallie Zuidema qualified for the championship finals on both boards, finishing sixth in 3-meter competition and seventh on the 1-meter board. Lewarchick was fourth in the 1-meter event and fifth in the 3-meter.  Scarry took seventh in 3-meter diving.

Bromberg earned Women's Coach of the Year honors in 2018 and 2019. Each year, in addition to the conference champion, Bromberg coached all of her entrants into the championship or consolation finals.

In 2016-17, Bromberg sent two divers, Tyler Pastore and Sean Scarry, to the NCAA Zone C Championships. It was the second consecutive year that each had qualified for the national meet. In 2016, four of Bromberg's divers competed in the NCAA zones, as Pastore and Scarry were joined by Mark Ciesielski and Rachel Criscione. Criscione also set the school record in the 3-meter dive that season.

Bromberg was named the Horizon League Women's Diving Coach of the Year in 2013. During that season, Bromberg coached sophomore Whitney Johnson to become the Diver of the Meet at the Horizon League Championships, the school’s first since 2000. Under Bromberg’s tutelage, Johnson became the first diver in UIC history to compete in the NCAA Zone C Championships all four years and was named one of UIC’s Top 50 Women’s Athletes of the past 50 years.

During the 2014-15 season, Bromberg sent four divers to the Zone C Championships and in total she has sent eleven different divers to the Championships.

Bromberg had previously served as the diving coach for Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Ill., for seven years. While at Lake Forest College, she had divers earn 14 NCAA All-American Awards and nine Midwest Conference Champions. She was named the NCAA Division III Women's Coach of the Year in 2006.

Prior to her position at Lake Forest, Bromberg served as the diving coach at Highland Park High School for a decade. She also spent time at Deerfield, Regina Dominican and Maine East High Schools.

Bromberg is the Chair of the Coaches Advisory Committee of USA Diving, which reports to the Board of Directors of USA Diving.  In 2020-21, she was elected to the NCAA Zone Diving Committee and is a representative for Zone C.  In November 2022, she was appointed to the NCAA Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Rules Committee for a three-year term.

Bromberg has held positions on the CCE (Committee for Competitive Excellence), as well as the Rules Committee and Member Services Committee. She became a FINA Certified Judge in 2013. She has judged many USA Diving Senior National Championships and was also a judge for the World Championships Selection Meet in 2015.

She has served on the NCAA Division III diving selection committee for three years. She also presides over the Illinois Diving Association as president since 2004.

In 1997, Bromberg co-founded the Windy City Diving Team, where she serves as one of the head coaches. This team attracts divers from all over the Chicago area and competes across the nation. Numerous Flames have competed with Windy City Diving, including current Flames Rachel Criscione, Tyler Pastore and Mark Ciesielski. Under Bromberg’s watch, the team has produced two national champions and decorated diver Christina Loukas, who qualified for the USA Diving Junior National Team and, later, the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Teams.

The Windy City Diving Team has developed close to 200 IHSA state meet qualifiers, over 60 state meet finalists and seven state champions. The team has seen many divers compete at the USA Diving Region and Zone meets and have had several divers earn entry for the USA Diving Junior and Senior National Championship Meets.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Bromberg earned her degree in Health Education.
