CHICAGO (AP) - Theandre Kimbrough hit a 3-pointer with 16 seconds to play Thursday night to give Illinois-Chicago a 61-59 victory over Illinois State.
After Kimbrough's basket, Illinois State's Rich Beyers attempted a 3-pointer at the buzzer but it bounced off the back of the rim.
Jon-Pierre Mitchom led UIC (5-8) with 14 points and Joe Scott added 12. Kimbrough finished with nine points, making just 3-of-12 shots.
Illinois State (5-7) was led by 21 points from L. Dee Murdock. Tarise Bryson added 14 points but also commited 14 turnovers for the Redbirds.
