Brown Leads Men's Hoops Past Wright State

Chicago, Ill. - Behind Maurice Brown's fifth double-double of the season, UIC broke its six-game losing streak with a 69-51 win over Wright State Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion.

Brown finished the night with a team-high 21 points, going 7-for-7 from the free throw line, and 11 rebounds. Theandre Kimbrough was the other Flame to finish in double figures, scoring 17 points while adding a game-high seven assists.

The Flames (7-15, 2-5 MCC) led 47-37 with 10:37 remaining, but a pair of Marcus May three-pointers trimmed the UIC advantage to four (47-43). UIC didn't falter, though, as they used a 12-2 run over the next six minutes to take a 59-45 lead they would never relinquish.

Kevin Melson paced Wright State (7-13, 2-5 MCC) with 18 points and 15 rebounds. Israel Sheinfeld and Marcus May each scored 15 for the Raiders, who fell to 0-11 on the road this season.

UIC is back in action on Thursday, Feb. 3, at Cleveland State with tip-off set for 6:30 p.m. CST.
