Indianapolis, Ind. - The UIC volleyball team dropped its second-straight match on Saturday afternoon as Butler swept the Flames 15-6, 15-9, 15-12, at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
With the loss, UIC's fourth in its last five matches, Don August's crew fell to 13-6 on the season and 2-4 in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference. Butler, meanwhile, rebounded from its Friday night loss to Loyola as they improved to 12-7, 4-2 in the MCC.
Poor hitting plagued UIC for the second consecutive night as they posted a .089 attack percentage (45-31-158) in the match, compared to the Bulldogs' .248 hitting percentage (48-15-133).
Freshman Teaha Shepperd proved to be one of the few bright spots for the Flames as she finished the night with 10 kills, 18 digs and three blocks. Sophomore Gina Caneva added eight kills and four blocks in the loss.
Butler used an evenly distributed offensive attack to douse the Flames. Thee Bulldogs - Danielle Kerr, Keely Norris, Andrea King - finished with a match-high 11 kills while Allison Cox added 10.
UIC will look to snap its two-match losing streak on Tuesday, Oct. 17, when they travel to Milwaukee, Wis., to battle Marquette at 7:00 p.m.
