Feb. 12, 2000 - After rallying for three runs in the top of the ninth against Arkansas-Little Rock on Friday en route to a 5-2 win, the Flames had the tables turned on them Saturday afternoon as they surrendered six runs in the bottom of the eighth as the Trojans captured a 13-6 win.
Arkansas-Little Rock took a quick 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but UIC responded with a three-run third inning rally as Bob Rosinski's double and Jason Hughes' first home run of the year highlighted the inning.
The Trojans then put up solo scores in the fourth and fifth innings to recapture the lead, 4-3, but the Flames responded with one run in the top of the sixth to tie the game up at 4-4.
UIC, which added two runs in the top of the eighth, gave up three runs in the bottom of the sixth and Arkansas-Little Rock clinched the victory with six runs in the bottom of the eighth for the final 13-6 margin.
Senior second baseman Eric Duke and sophomore third baseman Andy Deahl had the hot bats for the Flames as Duke went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in while Deahl went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Junior lefty Steve Carlson was handed his first loss of the season as he allowed seven hits and seven earned runs in four and two-thirds inning of relief work.
UIC and Arkansas-Little Rock will wrap up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
