Atlanta, Ga. - The UIC baseball team suffered its second straight set back against Georgia State earlier today as the Panthers handed the Flames an 18-5 loss.

GSU (4-2) put three runs on the board in the bottom of the first and added to its lead in the bottom of the second with four more runs for a 7-0 lead.

UIC (1-4) rallied for three runs in the top of the third inning to cut the lead to four, 7-3, highlighted by singles from Sean McNichols, Bob Rosinski and J.P. Moran. The Flames then cut Georgia State's lead to just two runs, 7-5, when they added two more runs to their total in the top of the fourth inning as Weber Bowen and McNichols each hit solo home runs.

The Panthers, however, added two more runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and eight more in the sixth to clinch the victory.

McNichols, UIC's only multiple-hit player, led the Flames at the plate with a 2-for-3 showing with two runs scored, one RBI and a home run.

Pitcher Jaime Velasquez was dealt his first loss of the year after surrendering seven earned runs with four hits, four walks and three strikeouts in two innings pitched.

UIC will be looking to avenge the loss when the two squads will meet for a final time on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
