Ypsilanti, Mich. - A day after losing a close 4-3 decision, the UIC women's tennis team came out on the winning side of a tight match on Saturday with a 4-3 at Eastern Michigan.
"It was probably the best overall team match we have played this year," stated Dailey. "Eastern Michigan came out really intense and fired up and we, as a whole team, were able to match that."
Dailey shook up the regular doubles combinations on Saturday and it paid off as UIC took and early lead by winning two of the three doubles contests and claiming the doubles point. Jacki Farr and Karen Liwanpo won their match 8-5 while Emina Curic and Zorica Malesevic won 8-5.
All the Flames then needed was a split in the six singles matches and that's what they got as the Malesevic sisters and Curic won in straight sets.
"It was a great win for Zorica and Zvjezdana was finally moving her feet for an entire match," commented Dailey. "For Emina, her attitude was so much better on Saturday and it's Emina's attitude that controls how she plays."
The win improved UIC's record to 3-4 on the season.
