Cincinnati Shuts Out UIC Baseball

Cincinnati, Ohio - After being stopped by the rain on Saturday, the UIC baseball team was stumped by the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday, 4-0.

The Flames managed just three hits in the loss as Cincy starter B.J. Borsa picked up his second win of the season after tossing seven innings and allowing three hits with six strikeouts. Curtus Moak worked two relief innings of no-hit ball for his fifth save of the year.

UIC hurler Nick Worm was handed his third loss of the year despite allowing just six hits and three earned runs in seven innings. Sean McNichols, Eric Duke and Mike Lorenzo accounted for the Flames' only hits on the afternoon.

Cincinnati struck early in the game, putting two runs on the board in the bottom of the first. Matt Stringer drew a walk with two outs and then the Bearcats strung together back-to-back doubles for the quick lead. Cincy then added an insurance run in the sixth and one more in the eighth for its 13th win of the year. UIC falls to 2-11.

UIC will remain in Cincinnati to face Xavier University on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. as well before heading to Nashville for the weekend.
