Women's Basketball Falls Short Against Detroit, 83-65

Detroit, Mich. - Detroit's Molly Peterman scored a career-high 35 points and rippped down 11 rebounds to lead the host Titans past the University of Illinois at Chicago, 83-65, in a Horizon League contest at Calihan Hall on Thursday night.

With the victory, Detroit improves to 8-9 on the season and 4-3 in Horizon League play, while UIC drops to 11-9 overall and 3-5 in the league.

Junior LeKesha Williams led UIC in scoring with 15 points, followed by seniors Stesha Rhodes (14 points) and Josie Cole (12 points). Freshman forward Chastity Quinn hauled in a career and game-high 12 boards for the Flames.

Both teams battled back and forth throughout the opening 26 minutes with Detroit holding a 44-43 lead with 13:57 remaining in the contest.

The Titans, then went on a 18-5 run, led by 12 points from Peterman, to secure the lead and the victory.

Detroit forward Randee Henry also turned in a solid effort for the Titans as she chipped in 18 points and six rebounds.

UIC will be back in action on Monday, as they will travel to Ohio to take on Youngstown State at 6:00 PM (CST).
