Cleveland, Ohio - The University of Illinois at Chicago volleyball team was unable to overcome a solid blocking performance by Cleveland State as the Vikings earned the 30-15, 30-21, 30-27 Horizon League sweep over the Flames at Woodling Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Cleveland State junior Jamie Bouyer led the attack at the net for the Vikings, notching a match-high 15 kills and 11 blocks on the afternoon. Cleveland State finished the three-game match with 15 blocks to UIC's three.
With the victory, Cleveland State improves to 11-8 overall and 1-3 in Horizon League action, while the Flames dropped their fourth straight match and fall to 7-12 on the season and 0-4 in league play.
Senior outside hitter Teaha Shepperd led UIC with 14 kills and nine digs.
UIC will be back in action on Friday evening, as they will host UW-Milwaukee for a Horizon League contest at 7:00 p.m. at the Flames Athletic Center.
