Chicago, Ill.- UIC Head Men's Basketball Coach Jimmy Collins has lured the top scorer from the state of Nebraska's preseason No. 1 prep team to the Windy City, as Karl White has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Flames.

The 6-foot-1 guard averaged 16.9 points, four rebounds and three assists per game for Omaha Central last season en route to Nebraska Class A All-State Second Team recognition. He was one of only two juniors last season to be named to the all-state first or second team.

"Karl brings to us a replica of the guards we currently have," Collins said of his latest recruit. "He is an all-state player, who is athletic, quick, tough and can shoot the basketball.

"He is a well coached player, and most importantly he comes from a great family background."

White was a First Team All-Metro Conference honoree in 2002-03, leading the Eagles to a 13-10 record before falling to eventual state champion Lincoln High School in the state tournament.
