DeKalb, Ill. - Anytime a team can win on the road, it is considered a good win.
Such was the case for the UIC women's tennis team, as they defeated Northern Illinois, 4-3 in DeKalb in rally fashion.
Down 3-2 with two singles matches in progress, Corey Steven and Zvjezdana Malesevic put on their rally visors and pulled out a pair of three-set victories to give the Flames (6-5) the win.
Steven defeated Tanja Sukovic, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, while Malesevic beat Karrie Tyioran, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
Northern Illinois (4-3) burst out of the gate winning all three doubles matches to take the early point, but the Flames answered during the singles portion of the match to grab the come-from-behind win.
Nicole Derouin won at No.1 singles cruising past Branka Savic, 6-2, 6-4.
Zorica Malesevic was the fourth UIC winner on the afternoon, downing Kristi McIntyre, 6-2, 6-2.
The UIC women's tennis team takes to the courts again on Sunday, February 23, when they host Drake at the Hyde Park Tennis Club.
