Milwaukee, Wis. - It was a game of runs, but UW-Milwaukee had the final word.
The host Panthers, led by 22 points from senior center Maria Viall, used a 15-3 run in the second half to break open a 50-50 tie and cruise to the 74-58 Horizon League victory over the University of Illinois at Chicago women's basketball team at the Klotsche Center on Saturday afternoon.
UWM freshman guard Kiley Johnson chipped in 16 points on 7-of-14 shooting for the Panthers.
With the victory, UWM improves to 4-6 overall and 1-0 in Horizon League action, while the Flames fall to 5-6 on the campaign and remain winless in conference play at 0-2.
Sophomore point guard Chrissy Dizon led UIC with 13 points, followed by Gina Hugelier (12 points) and Dejeanette Flournoy (10 points).
The Flames will be back in action on Monday evening, as they will host Cleveland State at 5:00 p.m. in the UIC Pavilion.
