UIC Falls In Five Games

Chicago, Ill. - The UIC Volleyball team fell to cross-town Horizon League rival, Loyola University (7-16, 5-5) in five games (30-28, 31-33, 30-26, 24-30, 14-16) Friday night. The Flames (10-16, 6-4) will return home to play four straight at the Flames Athletic Center, beginning November 4th at 7 pm versus Wright State.



UIC took the advantage with a 30-28 win over Loyola in game one. The Ramblers bounced back, beating the Flames 33-31 and tying the match a 1-1.



UIC then handily put the Ramblers away with a 30-26 victory in game three and led on offense with 18 kills to Loyola's 16.



The Ramblers answered in game four with a six-point win (24-30) over UIC, which put the match into a fifth and final game. Loyola slipped by the Flames 16-14 to clinch the 3-2 league victory.



Sophomore Katarina Nedeljkovic led the Flames with 23 kills and a season-high seven service aces. Junior Katie Kozak led with 44 assists and a season and career-high 23 digs on the night. Junior's Julie Popp and Maura McCarthy added 14 digs apiece.



The Ramblers were led by Audrey Davis with 16 kills and Ann Deelo with 25 digs. Sarah Elmer tallied 14 kills and 22 digs on the night.

UIC moves to 10-16 overall and 6-4 in Horizon League action. The Flames will play its first home match since October 11th, versus Wright State at 7 pm on November 4th at the Flames Athletic Center.
