Evansville, Ind. - The UIC women's basketball team's tenacious defense totaled 20 steals and forced host Evansville into 31 turnovers, but it was not enough to earn a victory on the road on Sunday afternoon as the Flames fell to the Purple Aces, 73-43, at Roberts Stadium.
Senior Chrissy Dizon led UIC (2-6) with 14 points, seven rebounds and four steals while junior Krystal Hugelier chipped in with eight points and six boards. Junior Jackie Parker collected a career-best five steals for the Flames.
Megan Liffick tabbed a game-high 23 points, to go with six rebounds, to lead Evansville (3-4). Rebekah Parker was also in double-figures with 12 points. She also added six boards and six assists while the Flames did force her into nine turnovers.
UIC trailed by just five points at intermission, 29-24, but the second half told the story in this contest.
The Purple Aces shot 56% from the field en route to 44 points in the final 20 minutes while the Flames netted just 17% of their attempts for just 19 points during the same stretch.
UIC will be back in action on Wednesday. December 14th, when they return home to take on Chicago State at 7:00 p.m.
