Chicago, Ill.-The UIC women's tennis team captured every match on the day to take a 7-0 win over Horizon League rival Detroit on Thursday afternoon.
UIC (6-7, 3-0) won their second match in a row and kept their league record a perfect 3-0. Detroit dropped to 9-8 with the loss and 2-1 in league action.
The Flames featured a balanced attack throughout the match. Iris Jaklin took care of business with a win at No. 1 singles over Holly Smith, 6-2, 6-2, while Molly Smith won her first match at No. 2 singles this year with an impressive 6-0, 6-1 victory over Andrea Buter.
Corey Steven blanked Bianca Savarino 6-0, 6-0, while Melanie Humphrey returned from a badly sprained ankle suffered during the team's spring trip to clinch a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fourth spot.
Freshman Grace Gill-Morlis kept her poise and took a three-set victory over Stephanie Hill, while Christina Oum downed Ashley Cummins, 6-3, 6-4.
UIC is back in action this Sunday against Long Beach State at 9 a.m.
