Chicago, Ill. - The University of Illinois at Chicago Cheerleading squad and the Dancing Flames will hold their annual tryouts on September 7th, at 6:00 p.m. in the Flames Athletic Center (FAC) located at 839 W. Roosevelt Road.
The Cheerleading and Dancing Flames squads both compete nationally and will test their mettle against the best, as they will participate in the 2006 NCA/NDA College National Championships in Daytona, Florida. The spirit teams' primary focus is to create a positive, high-energy, environment for members of the UIC community.
Those wishing to participate in the Cheerleading tryouts should account for the following:
• Competitive cheerleading or gymnastics background is preferred
• Tumbling is REQUIRED
• Tryouts open to male individuals (former cheerleading background is NOT required)
• Appearance and proper attire will be evaluated.

Those wishing to participate in the `Dancing Flames' tryouts should account for the following:
• Prior dance/performance experience
• A one-minute routine that incorporates your best skills (crowd appropriate)
• Learn and perform a brief choreographed routine that will be taught at try-outs
• Execute technical skills
• Dance attire required: sports bra/crop top ONLY, dance pants and proper footwear
• Appropriate hair and makeup
