Chicago, Ill. - Despite double-double performances from sophomore Katarina Nedeljkovic and junior Maura McCarthy, the UIC volleyball team had its two-match winning streak snapped at Valparaiso Tuesday night as the host Crusaders swept the Flames, 30-24, 30-25, 30-25.
Nedeljkovic, the Horizon League leader in kills, paced UIC (5-10) with 13 kills and 14 digs. Reigning Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week McCarthy added 11 kills and 10 digs for her eighth double-double of the year.
Junior Ambria Springer also recorded a team-high tying 13 kills for the Flames.
Valparaiso (12-3), which leads the Mid-Continent Conference, was anchored by Liz Mikos' 13 kills and .667 attack percentage. She also added four blocks on the night. Amy Palash also had 12 kills and eight digs for the Crusaders.
UIC will be back in action on Friday night when Loyola pays a visit to the Flames Athletic Center at 7:00 p.m., for a showdown between two unbeaten squads in Horizon League action.
