Indianapolis, Ind.- The 10th-ranked UIC men's soccer team suffered its first Horizon League setback of the season on Sunday, falling to Butler by a 1-0 score at the Butler Bowl.
Playing without injured starters Cesar Zambrano and Alen Husidic, the Flames (11-2-2, 4-1-0 Horizon League) were unable to scratch the scoreboard against the host Bulldogs (5-9-2, 2-4-1 Horizon League).
The loss ended UIC's four-game winning streak.
A strike by Butler's John De Vae in the 17th minute proved to be the match-winner.
"Bottom line, we have to give fair dues to Butler," said UIC head coach John Trask. "They were the better team on the day.
"We need to get home, we need to get healthy," said Trask. "It will be a huge weekend against Loyola and UW-Green Bay coming up. The No. 1 spot is still up for grabs.
"It will boil down to the final weekend of the season, which is great for the Horizon League."
The Flames will wrap up their three-game road swing close to home, taking a short trip to Rogers Park to face crosstown league rival Loyola on October 20th.
