Senior LaShonda Grant paced UIC on offense with 20 points

Madison, Wisc. - Despite a season-high 20 points from senior LaShonda Grant, Wisconsin topped the UIC women's basketball team, 75-53 on Thursday night at the Kohl Center in Madison. Senior Krystal Hugelier notched 11 points, shooting 60 percent from three-point land.

Sophomore Nikki Grobbecker pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Four Badgers scored in double-figures with Danielle Ward leading the squad with 13 points and nine boards.

The Badgers got off to a quick start with seven straight points, but UIC answered with an 8-2 run to get within one, 9-8. Wisconsin regained a nine-point advantage (17-8) with 10:30 left in the first half.

The Flames closed the gap to five points, but UW headed into the halftime with a 36-19 lead. The Badgers shot 48.5 percent (16-for-33) from the field, outrebounding UIC 23-11.

Wisconsin continued to produce on offense in the second half for its ninth win this season with a 75-53 victory over the Flames.

UIC returns to Chicago for a four-game homestand, beginning with Air Force on Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3:00 p.m.
