Chicago, Ill.- This Sunday UIC gymnastics fans will get a sneak peek at the 2007 editions of the men's and women's squads as the annual Mixed Pairs exhibition takes place at the Physical Education Building on December 10th at 2:00 p.m.
The women's team returns 10 performers from last season's NCAA South Central Regional qualifying squad. Seniors Jessie Jaworowicz, Rachael Zelinski and Jessica Panos will lead the way, as will second-year all-around standouts Zandre Labuschagne and Annie Kachman.
Flames fans will get a preview of the UIC women's gymnastics team's three newcomers, including the third member of the Jaworowicz family to compete for co-head coach Peter Jansson and Mary Jansson in highly-touted rookie Justine Jaworowicz.
On the men's side, head coach "CJ" Johnson will unveil one of the nation's top squads to the UIC faithful. The Flames, ranked 11th in the GymInfo 2007 Preseason Coaches Poll, will feature all-around star and senior co-captain Tim Morrison among their 14 veteran returnees.
Johnson's crew will also be helped by a fantastic freshman class. U.S. Junior National Team member Andrew Stover headlines a loaded rookie corps that also includes prep standouts Ben Sinor and Nikolai Korepanov, among many others.
The meet will take place in the UIC practice gym on the southwest end of the Physical Education Building. Admission is free.
