Toledo, Ohio- Sophomore Eric Fey picked up a singles victory for the weary UIC men's tennis team on Friday night, as the Flames could not pick up a dual match win in their second contest of the day against Toledo.
UIC (2-3), which beat IPFW in Fort Wayne by a 4-3 count earlier in the day, could not get anything going against the Rockets on Toledo's home courts in a 6-1 loss.
Fey won his singles match at the No. 5 spot, earning a 7-6(7), 3-6, 10-6 thriller against Travis Curran.
Ivan Kovalev engaged in a tremendous battle at the top spot versus Mohammed Al Nabhani, winning the first set by a 6-4 count before falling 6-4, 6-3 in the final two frames.
The Flames hit the road for a match against Northern Illinois this Sunday in Rockford, Ill., at noon.
