Dayton, Ohio - The UIC basketball team fell to Wright State, 68-53, on the road Thursday night. Junior LaShonda Grant posted double figures in her 11th straight contest this season with 16 points versus the Raiders.
Junior Kelly True paced the Flames, pulling down seven boards and Krystal Hugelier and Jacquay Holmes both knocked down nine points each. Holmes grabbed five steals and Hugelier shot 100 percent (4-for-4) from the line.
Three Raiders scored in double digits with Brittany Whiteside leading WSU with 21 points and eight rebounds. Rhea Mays netted 14 points and Steph Comisar added 13 in the win.
UIC led for the first fifteen minutes of the first half.
Shooting over 50 percent from the field and three-point land, Wright State gained the advantage with 5:47 on the clock. A 10-3 surge in four minutes gave the Raiders a ten-point led (39-29) heading into halftime.
UIC sparked a 6-0 run early in the second half to cut the deficit to ten points. Trailing by 17 with 7:40 remaining in regulation, the Flames hit six quick points, but fell to the Raiders 68-53.
With a 12-12 overall record and 8-5 in league action, the Flames return home after four straight road games to host Butler on February 18th at 7 pm.
