Green Bay, Wis. - The UIC men's basketball team dropped its third straight decision on Wednesday night, falling to UW-Green Bay, 77-57, at the Resch Center. The Flames are now 4-4 in Horizon League play and 9-12 overall. The Phoenix improved to 3-4 in conference and 11-9 overall.
Junior Othyus Jeffers led UIC with 18 points, nine rebounds and four assists. Junior T.J. Gray connected for 17 points.
Sophomore Mike Schachtner led four UW-Green Bay players in double-figures with 21 points. Rookie Troy Cotton came off the bench to add 17, including four three-pointers.
The Phoenix proved why they are the league's top three-point shooting team on Wednesday, connecting on 55 percent (12-for-22) of its shots from behind the arc.
UW-Green Bay's three-point accuracy was lethal in a decisive run in the first half. With UIC leading 21-20 with 12:31 remaining in the opening stanza, the Phoenix hit four straight triples during a 16-0 run that staked them to a 36-21 advantage.
The Flames trailed 46-33 at the half and would get no closer than that 13-point margin in the final 20 minutes.
UIC will look to get back on the winning track on Saturday when they host Cleveland State at 2 p.m.
