Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball was edged by Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon in four games (32-30, 23-30, 24-30, 22-30) at the Flames Athletic Center. Sophomore Katerina Hanackova and senior Amanda Kenny notched a team-high 14 kills each.
Sophomore Lana Lobdell totaled 12 kills, six blocks and led the team with a .385 attack percentage. Sophomores Casie Sullivan and Emily McGinnis each totaled 13 digs, while freshman Taylor Szatkowski paced UIC with 19 digs. Freshman Epiphany Davis powered the Flames at the net with seven blocks.
Valpo's Angie Porche guided the squad with 24 kills and 15 digs. Brittany Mailcoat owned a team-best 27 digs.
Trailing by four points late in game one, UIC sparked a 9-3 run to take an early 1-0 lead (32-30). The Flames held the Crusaders to a .148 attack percentage and forced the team to commit 14 errors.
Valpo posted a .300 offensive clip in game two with 17 kills to knot the match at 1-1. Porche guided the Crusaders with five kills, while Tiffany Meikle owned a game-high eight digs.
The Crusaders used the offensive momentum after the break to top UIC, 30-24, in game three. Valpo clinched the match victory with 19 kills in game four (30-22).
The Flames wrap up regular season action on Sunday when they host Western Illinois at 3:00 p.m. Senior Day will be celebrated prior to the contest.
