Chicago, Ill. - UIC volleyball's season was cut short by Wright State in the quarterfinals of the 2007 Horizon League Tournament. The Flames fell to the Raiders in three games (21-30, 29-31, 27-30) at the Klotche Center in Milwaukee on Friday afternoon.
The Flames finish the 2007 season with a 15-16 overall record.
Sophomore Katerina Hanackova led UIC with 11 kills, while senior Liz Hrebic totaled a team-high 15 digs. Junior Christin Hunt owned a team-best .267 attack percentage. Sophomore Lana Lobdell tied her career-high nine blocks and added seven kills in the match.
Alisha Kimbro paced the Raiders with 17 kills. Lexi Leonhard totaled 12 digs, while Lizzy Gunn led Wright State at the net with five blocks.
Tied at 2-2 in game one, Wright State posted a 4-1 run to take the early lead. The Raiders continued to produce on offense, eventually taking a seven-point advantage at the midpoint of game one. UIC sparked a run late in the frame, but fell short (30-21).
The Flames owned an early 5-2 advantage. Wright State posted a 7-4 run to knot game two at 9-9. The game remained tight until Wright State grabbed five straight points (29-24). UIC then responded with a 4-0 run to knot it 29-29, but Wright State took a 2-0 lead heading into the break in extra points (31-29).
Trailing 17-10, UIC refused to go quietly and rallied to tie game three at 25-25. Wright State recorded a 5-2 run to advance to the semifinals in the 2007 Horizon League Tournament (30-27).
