Indianapolis, Ind. - UIC volleyball (14-13, 6-8) fell to Butler in three games (31-33, 21-30, 22-30) on Friday night in Indianapolis. Senior Amanda Kenny led UIC with 12 kills, while sophomore Katerina Hanackova owned a match-high 14 digs.
Hanackova also totaled eight kills and freshman Taylor Szatkowski tabbed 11 digs against the Bulldogs. Freshman Epiphany Davis paced UIC at the net with five blocks.
Porshia Allen totaled a team-best 16 kills for Butler. Katie Daprile picked up 12 digs and Michelle DeGeeter guided the Bulldogs on defense with five blocks.
Butler took an early lead in game one, but the Flames fired back and recorded a 6-1 run to knot it at 15-15. UIC continued its offensive momentum and expanded the lead to four points late in the frame (25-21). The Bulldogs posted a late burst to force game one into extra points, eventually taking a 1-0 advantage in the match (33-31).
The Bulldogs held UIC to a zero attack percentage to take game two, 30-21. Butler continued to dominate on offense after the break to capture the sweep with 17 kills and a .239 offensive clip in game three.
The Flames battle in their final regular season road match on Saturday when they square off against Wright State at 3:00 p.m. CST in Dayton, Ohio.
