Men's Basketball Falls At Illinois State

Dec. 1, 2007

Box Score

Normal, Ill.- A rough second half following an evenly-matched opening stanza sank the UIC men's basketball team on Saturday night in a 73-47 loss to Illinois State at Redbird Arena.

UIC falls to 3-4, while Illinois State moves to 5-2.

Robert Kreps and Josh Mayo scored 10 points apiece for the Flames.

Both teams shot just over 40 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes of the game, with the Flames hitting 5-of-10 from downtown, to go into intermission knotted at 29-29.

But after the break the Flames hit a dry spell and the host Redbirds got hot. Illinois State went on a 12-0 run within the first five minutes of the final period, and UIC would make just two field goals and total only seven points after nearly 16 minutes had passed.

The Flames finished the second half shooting just 19 percent (5-for-27) from the floor.

The Redbirds shot 74 percent (17-for-23) from the field in the second half, including 7-for-10 from beyond the arc.

Levi Dyer led Illinois State with 25 points, knocking down seven of his eight attempts from three-point land.

Karl White Jr. returned after missing UIC's last game due to a calf injury.

UIC returns home for the first time since Nov. 13, opening its Horizon League slate against rival Milwaukee at the Pavilion beginning at 7 p.m.
