Chicago, Ill.- The UIC men's basketball team will seek to extend its two-game winning streak when the Flames go up against crosstown rival DePaul this Saturday night at Allstate Arena.
Tip-off between the Flames (5-4) and Blue Demons (2-4) is slated for 7:30 p.m. CT.
UIC enters Saturday's game with momentum after winning two consecutives games against conference foes last week. The Flames beat Milwaukee and Green Bay within a span of three days and shot 55 percent overall (59-for-107) and from beyond the arc (22-for-40) as a team to take the early lead in the Horizon League standings.
Leading the Flames' charge is reigning Horizon League Player of the Week Josh Mayo. Mayo is averaging a team-leading 18.9 points per game this year, the second-best average in the Horizon League, and put up 30.5 ppg in his last two contests.
Last week Mayo shot 67.9 percent (19-for-28) from the field and an amazing 73.3 percent (11-for-15) from three-point range en route to his second conference Player of the Week award in less than a month.
The Blue Demons have lost two in a row heading into Saturday, but both were to Top 25 foes (No. 3 Kansas, No. 20/21 Vanderbilt). Draelon Burns is averaging 18.2 ppg to lead DePaul.
Despite the fact that only five miles separates the two campuses, UIC and DePaul have met just four times prior to Saturday's game, including just two times since 1981-82.
