Chicago, Ill.- There was plenty of holiday cheer at the UIC Pavilion following the UIC men's basketball team's 97-58 victory over visiting Howard on Saturday afternoon.
The Flames (8-4) extended their winning streak to five games and remained a perfect 6-0 at home this season after picking up a decisive victory in their final game at the Pavilion in the calendar year.
Karl White Jr. scored a career-high 20 points to lead the way, while teammates Josh Mayo (18 points), Robert Kreps (13), Jermaine Dailey (10) and Robert Bush (10) also scored in double figures.
UIC was balanced on both ends in a game that featured the Flames' biggest margin of victory since a 40-point win over North Central during the 2001-02 season.
Defensively the Flames forced the Bison (3-9) into 31 turnovers while finishing with a Pavilion-record 25 steals. Mayo led the way with four thefts.
On the offensive end UIC shot 56.9 percent (37-for-65) from the field as a team and scored the most points in a regulation game since putting up 102 in a win against Milwaukee on Jan. 9, 2003.
White was 9-for-11 from the floor and 2-for-2 from three-point range.
Mayo and Spencer Stewart each handed out seven assists, which was a season-high for the latter.
Rookie Tori Boyd provided the highlight of the game in the second half with a soaring one-handed jam on a fast break.
Dailey had some highlight-reel dunks of his own, going 5-for-5 from the field with multiple stuffs.
The Flames have now won nine in a row at home dating back to last season.
UIC will be off until its Dec. 29 game against Akron in Akron, Ohio at 6:00 p.m. Central.
