After eight days off, it took UIC a few minutes to work out the kinks. Three minutes into the first half, the Flames sparked a 7-2 run to take an early 11-5 lead. Hutchens hit a three-pointer at the 9:16 mark to give UIC a double-digit advantage (20-9).

UIC continued to dominate offensively, eventually extending its lead to 16 points at the break (32-16). Miller and freshman Ashley Tomzik each shot 50 percent from the field in the first half. Miller totaled nine points, followed by Tomzik with six.

The Bison responded in the second half, recording an 8-2 in the first four minutes of action. Bucknell pulled within 11 points at the 14:56 mark, but the Flames scored 12 points in the next two minutes for a 48-26 advantage.

The Bison then chipped away at the 22-point deficit by posting a 15-3 burst to get within 11 points with 8:05 remaining. Bucknell cut the lead to eight on a trey by Brown, but UIC held on to remain undefeated at home with the 70-62 victory over Bucknell.

The Flames head to Ohio for their first Horizon League contests against Youngstown State and Cleveland State on Jan. 3 and 5.
